In 2004 Directive 8570.1 went into effect, in summary; the directive “…establishes policy and assigns responsibilities for Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance (IA) training, certification, and workforce management….” The DoD envisioned implementing the policies and requirements set fourth in Directive 8570.1-M using an electronic process. One which would be available to support government personnel in myriad time-zones using various types of technology.

The Department of Defense chose JASZ Technology to analyze its business needs, recommend a technology solution, design, develop, implement and maintain its solution. JASZ Technology conceptualized a website and web application that provides:

• Custom Materials Tracking and Issuance
• Superior Data Management
• Provides a seamless interface to several other government vendor’s websites and web applications

JASZ Technology developed what is now called the PCSS (Personnel Certification Support System). Although still in pilot phase, the PCSS is meeting the needs of the DoD in implementing its Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (IA-WIP) under directive 8570.1.
